To the books,
you aren't a player.
You're a product.
Their revenue isn't your recovery.
The books report revenue. You live with what betting costs you. Those are not the same scorecard.
U.S. commercial sportsbooks reported $16.96 billion in revenue on $166.94 billion wagered in 2025, according to the American Gaming Association's February 2026 release. The amount wagered is called handle. It is not the amount lost, and the same money can be wagered repeatedly. Revenue is not profit after operating costs.

Tax revenue isn't a safety net.
The AGA reports $18.09 billion in U.S. commercial gaming tax revenue for 2025. That's across commercial gaming, not sports betting alone. It does not tell us how much was spent on gambling support or whether people got the help they needed. Read the February 2026 release.
